Mercedes W123 OM617 to 716 717 Front Driveshaft Section - 4 Speed Swap

$800.00

If you've been planning a manual swap on your OM617-powered W123 (300D, 300TD, or the five-cylinder 240D) and driveshafts are the thing holding you up, you're in the right place.

Fair warning — we're not trying to undercut the local driveline shop that'll shorten your stock shaft for $150. If cheapest is the goal, this isn't it. What you're getting here is a brand-new shaft with billet fittings, no vintage components, balanced and welded to our spec. Buy the complete kit and you'll save on the package.

We also do custom lengths for one-off applications. The fittings are machined from billet in-house, and we spec the lengths ourselves before sending out for welding and balance. Nothing recycled, nothing friction-welded.

One thing you'll need from your old front shaft section: the compression nut. Hang onto it.

Friction-welded Mercedes shafts are famously difficult to work with — most driveshaft shops won't touch them. Rather than chasing that headache, we decided it was easier to build our own from scratch. This front shaft connects to your W123 rear section (and other compatible chassis) at the correct length to run a 716 transmission behind a five-cylinder engine.

We can also build custom front shafts for 717-into-240 / OM616 swaps, or whatever other combination you've got in mind — just ask.

If you haven't already, check out our core parts swap kit for the OM617-to-716 four-speed conversion, and our complete swap kits.

We also manufacture a billet 4140 flywheel (37 lb.) that's a direct drop-in for 617-032-0001, including a new heat-treated starter ring gear. Available standalone or as part of the complete kit.
