Why anodized aluminum instead of the factory caps
Factory caps are painted plastic — they fade, peel, and chalk under UV and saltwater exposure over time. These are 6061-T6 type II anodized aluminum, which resists UV fading and saltwater pitting far better, though no finish is completely impervious to years of harsh marine exposure.
Color-coding
Since the caps snap in and out in seconds, you can run different colors per engine — red on port, blue or silver on starboard — for a quick visual reference at the helm.
